Ms. Englert has extensive criminal defense experience, including trials, appeals, and post-conviction matters. After practicing law for more than 20 years, she opened her own law firm to focus on appeals and post-conviction cases. By limiting her practice to fewer cases, she can devote more time and attention to each one.
Ms. Englert started her career as a civil rights lawyer at the United States Commission on Civil Rights and went on to practice at an employment law firm, helping those suffering discrimination in the workplace. Her criminal and appellate practice began with a short stint prosecuting cases as a Special Assistant United States Attorney in the District of Columbia. Subsequently, as a staff attorney at the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit in San Francisco, California, she routinely advised three-judge panels on the disposition of criminal cases. She has been representing criminal defendants in private practice since 2002, first at the law firm of Bennett & Nathans, LLP, and then in a partnership at Lawlor & Englert, LLC.
Ms. Englert graduated from George Mason University School of Law in 1994, and is admitted to practice law in the state and federal courts of the District of Columbia, Maryland, and Virginia.
